Four UPMC Northwest employees were recently awarded scholarships by the Northwest Hospital Foundation.
The UPMC Northwest Medical Staff Scholarship is awarded to employees who are working toward a degree or certificate related to providing direct patient care. The recipients are Andrea Horn, Riley Guiste, and Brianna Hornbeck. Their certificates were presented by Dr. Amgad Abdu, Medical Staff President, on April 20.
Phlebotomist Andrea Horn and Patient Care Technologist Riley Guiste are both enrolled in the Associate of Science in Nursing program at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville. Brianna Hornbeck is a high school student in UPMC Northwest’s Junior Scholar program who will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
The Stephen C. and Marie F. Cenedella Nursing Scholarship was established to offset the cost of education intended to advance the recipient’s skills or qualifications as members of the hospital’s nursing staff. The recipient is Palliative Care Nurse Stephanie Brackbill. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Walden University. Her certificate was presented by Foundation Executive Director Theresa Edder at the UPMC Northwest Nursing Practice Council Nursing Awards Ceremony on May 6.
Congratulations, scholarship recipients!
